Qualcomm Globalstar Satellite Phones

There are four models of Globalstar satellite phones available, two of which are mobile (handheld) phones and two of which are fixed (desktop) satellite phones.

GSP SAT-550 phone - This is the newest Globalstar satellite phone available. It is a mobile phone tha offers digital voice (but no data) communications for users in North America and the Carribean. It is significantly less expensive than the GSP 1600. Average cost is $500 USD.

GSP 1600 phone - This is a mobile, tri-mode satellite phone that offers voice, SMS and data connectivity from most regions of the world. The Globalstar 1600 automatically switches to the cellular CDMA or AMPs cellular network in the caller's home network, thereby reducing call costs. The GSP 1600 is available as a satellite phone rental. Average cost is $650 USD.

GSP 2900 phone - This is a fixed satellite phone with an externally-mounted antenna suitable for use inside buildings. It offers voice and 9.6 Kbps data connectivity from most regions of the world. Average cost is $2,500 USD.

FAU 200 phone - This is a fixed satellite phone similar to the Globalstar 2900 phone, but offers only voice service (no data) for users in North America and the Carribean. Average cost is $600 USD.
